New York City based celebrity eyebrow specialist (and make up artist) Elke Von Freudenberg held a press event at her recently opened 4 station “Model Brow Specialist” studio on Broadway and 23rd Street in Manhattan. Editors watched as Elke altered models, filling in spaces, cutting away strays and tweezing to perfection. “It’s all about the optical illusion,” she says. “The shape can make or break a look. The goal is for people to look at your eyes….not your eyebrows.”

We were fascinated as she performed “before and after” transformations on three models, including the color and shape correction of a model suffering from a fading tattoo brow. “The most popular and flattering style right now is thicker and rounded,” confirmed Elke. “Eyebrow styles change about every ten years. We are now moving past the very thin brow. There is actually an interesting mini trend for a NO BROW look, but I am confident that look will not catch on with real women.” Elke says a professional should never take less than 30 minutes on each client. In the one hour presentation, Elke offered tips for professional eyebrow specialists including product and color choice (“It’s important to select colors without undertones), the importance of blending and shaping “from the outside in.”

One exciting presentation was on her new “Elke Brow Scrub” which she has seen help clients return growth to previously barren areas of the brow. “Hair hadn’t grown there for years,” said the model. “I swear by the scrub.”
